Our Story

Both personal and employment experience provide the bedrock of any successful business. Sandra Dawson, the founder of Dawson Real Estate, learned the value of responsibility and leadership from a young age as the eldest child in a large family in the shadow of Boston. These qualities shone through her high school and nursing school years, where she was elected class president. As a Registered Nurse in the Boston area and later after moving to New Bedford with her husband, Kevin, Sandra ascended quickly through the ranks, taking on head nursing positions. When their three children entered school, she sought to continue her career outside of the hospital setting. At that time, hospitals did not offer per diem opportunities, and Sandra and Kevin's decision to invest in rental properties sparked a new interest. She decided to take the real estate exam, driven by the desire to gain a deeper understanding of landlord responsibilities. A chance opportunity led to a part-time role with a local practitioner, launching her journey into the real estate world. The sudden loss of her mentor sparked a pivotal decision: Sandra decided to open her own brokerage firm in 1978. Experienced agents from other firms quickly recognized the potential and sought to join her fledgling company.

Over the years, Dawson Real Estate has grown, navigated affiliations with franchises, and ultimately emerged as an independent firm, proudly affiliated with Boston-based Realty Guild, an esteemed association of over 50 independent real estate offices with a network of over 750 agents across the state. While Sandra remains actively involved in real estate, two of her children have taken the helm of the family business. Sandy Dawson Galavotti, Sandra's daughter, joined the agency in 1998 after building a successful background in finance and investments. Sandy's natural leadership abilities and warm personality make her a perfect fit for guiding the team of agents and providing exceptional service to her clients. She consistently ranks as a top producer in the firm. Patrick Dawson, Sandra's son, brings a diverse background in education and government service to the company. Joining in 2005, he now serves as the marketing manager while maintaining a consistent track record as a top-producing agent. His dependable nature and patient approach are invaluable assets for both buyer and seller clients.
